Platforms

The Basics

Apple & Spotify are big players - but there are more!

Initially as a minimum I would recommend ensuring your podcast is available on both Apple Podcasts or Spotify. There are a plethora of other platforms you can consider.

Different syndication methods.

Some platforms will pick up your podcast automatically, some can be submitted to automatically via your hosting site, others need to be manually submitted.

More is... more?

There is no harm in having your podcast on as many platforms as possible. There are no downsides and lots of potential upsides.

How Can I Improve?

Step 1

Familiarise yourself with your hosting site and what platforms it will syndicate to. If you are using Libsyn you can manage where your podcast gets published under the "Destinations" tab.

Step 2

To start with, make sure you are live on Apple Podcasts and Spotify as a minimum.

Step 3

Some platforms automatically pull your RSS feed from Apple Podcasts, so if you are live on Apple then the following platforms will pull your show automatically.

  • Overcast

  • Downcast

  • PodCruncher

  • iCatcher

  • Castaway 2

  • BeyondPod

  • AntennaPod

  • Podcast Republic

  • DoubleTwist

Step 4

Once you have a grasp on the basics, here is a list of other key platforms to consider.

  • Google Podcasts

  • Stitcher

  • TuneIn

  • Podchaser

  • Pandora

  • iHeartRadio

Step 5

The vast majority of listening happens on the platforms listed already. However there is no harm in also submitting your show to the following platforms if you want to go the extra mile.

  • RadioPublic

  • PocketCasts

  • Listen Notes

  • Castbox

  • Deezer

  • Castro

  • Anypod

  • Podcast Addict

  • PlayerFM

  • iPodder

  • Learning Out Loud

  • Acast

  • Laughable

  • Podcast Gang

  • Listen App

Don't Forget...

  • When it comes to platforms, the more the merrier!

  • Use Apple Podcasts & Spotify as a starting point;

  • Use your hosting site to push to platforms automatically.
